SUMMARY:Remodelers Council - Henrico Tax Abatement Program
DESCRIPTION:Henrico is looking to spur redevelopment across the County. Come hear from Eric Leabrough\, Henrico County's Housing Specialist\, and Biff Leonard\, Henrico County's Deputy Real Estate Assessor about the changes to the rehabilitation tax abatement program.\n\n \n\nPrior to the change\, structures at least 40 years old and valued at no more than $250\,000 qualified for the 7-year abatement. Now\, Henrico has expanded their program to structures at least 24 years old\, valued at no more than $300\,000\, and extended the program to 10 years for housing rehab projects. This will bring more inventory to the market. For our remodelers\, this could present a huge opportunity.\n\n\n\nEric Leabough began his housing career in local government in 2000 as a Henrico County planner responsible for managing community development programs. Shortly thereafter\, he joined the City of Richmond as a project manager for the Richmond Redevelopment and Housing Authority in 2004\, and he later assumed the role of assistant vice president of redevelopment in 2010. In 2011\, he was promoted to interim vice president of Community Revitalization. Through his work in Richmond\, Mr. Leabough managed residential and commercial revitalization projects that transformed mature neighborhoods into communities of choice for residents.
